Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): Argentina's world champion captain and the God of Football, Lionel Messi's India tour has started with a lot of commotion and chaos in Kolkata. Messi, who arrived in Kolkata as the brand ambassador of the United Nations Children's Organization (UNICEF) under the 'GOAT India Tour', was welcomed with enthusiasm, but the scene at the Salt Lake Stadium soon turned into a battlefield. The patience of the fans, who were desperate to catch a glimpse of their favorite star since morning, broke when chaos prevailed in the stadium. The angry spectators created a lot of ruckus there. The situation got so bad that the fans started breaking and throwing the chairs of the stadium and water bottles started being thrown on the field.

The main reason for this uproar is said to be Messi's very short time on the field. According to reports, due to security reasons and the deteriorating situation, Lionel Messi left the stadium with other VIP guests in less than 10 minutes. This angered fans who had purchased expensive tickets ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 rupees and had been waiting for hours. Disappointed by Messi's sudden departure, the fans felt cheated and their anger reached the seventh sky. Reports also revealed that the crowd management and arrangements at the stadium were inadequate, which added fuel to the fire.

 As soon as the fans realized that the event would not proceed after Messi's departure, the entire stadium erupted in loud booing. The enraged crowd breached the security cordon and entered the arena, jumping over the lower level barricades. The unruly fans not only took over the field but also tore down the goalposts. What was supposed to be a celebration of football turned into a nightmare due to administrative negligence and the crowd's anger. Police and security personnel struggled to control the situation.
