Mohammad Siraj Doesn't Get Credit He Deserves, Sachin Tendulkar Backs Siraj
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): India's legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar said that he likes Mohammad Siraj's attitude very much. This fast bowler does not get the credit he deserves. Siraj took 5 wickets for 104 runs on the fifth day of the Oval Test, due to which India defeated England by six runs and leveled the five-match series 2-2.
England had no answer to Siraj's accuracy as he took three wickets for just nine runs in 25 balls on the fifth day and devastated the lower order. Siraj sealed India's victory by uprooting Gus Atkinson's off stump. Tendulkar said that unbelievable and brilliant style. I like his attitude very much. No batsman would like a fast bowler to be in front of you like this. And the attitude he adopted on the last day remained till the end, I could even hear the commentators saying that he bowled at a speed of about 90 mph (145 kmph) on the last day after bowling more than 1,000 balls in the series. This shows his courage and big heart.
Siraj was also the highest wicket-taker in this series with 23 wickets at an average of 32.43. He bowled 1,113 balls in the series. Tendulkar said that the way he started on the last day was commendable and he has always played an important role, whenever we needed him, whenever we wanted him to perform explosively. He showed it by bowling well. The same thing happened in this series as well. The way he took so many wickets and performed well, he does not get the credit he deserves. Siraj proved to be the best bowler in this series. Jasprit Bumrah was able to play only three matches due to workload management. In three matches against England, Bumrah took 14 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls. Tendulkar supported Bumrah and said that the Test matches he missed were 'just a coincidence'. I know people are saying many things, we won the Tests which Bumrah did not play. To be honest, for me it is just a coincidence. Bumrah started really well, took five wickets in the first Test. He did not play the second Test, but he took five wickets in the third and fourth innings at Lord's. That is, out of the three Tests he has played, he has taken five wickets twice.
He said that Bumrah's performance is amazing. Whatever he has done so far is unbelievable. According to me, he has been performing consistently well without any doubt. I consider him better than anyone else.
