Email Terror from Abroad! Man Extradited for ₹10-Crore Extortion Threat to Zeeshan Siddique, Rinku Singh
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu) – The Mumbai Crime Branch has made a major breakthrough in the case involving threats made to Zeeshan Siddique, son of late NCP leader and former minister Baba Siddique, and Indian cricketer Rinku Singh. According to officials, the accused, Mohammad Dilshad Naushad, was extradited from Trinidad and Tobago in July 2025 after sending threatening emails in the name of the underworld.
The Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch has filed a 90-page chargesheet, which includes statements from eight witnesses. During the probe, police found that the accused had also threatened a major foreign businessman in addition to Zeeshan and Rinku.
Investigations revealed that in February 2025, Naushad initially emailed Rinku Singh, seeking financial help. When he didn’t get a response, he began sending extortion emails invoking the underworld’s name, demanding crores of rupees. Two of Rinku’s event managers had their statements recorded in August — one confirmed that Rinku regularly receives various emails, and the threatening one came to light only after police intervention.
Zeeshan Siddique, on the other hand, filed a police complaint in April 2025, stating that between April 19 and 21, he received emails demanding ₹10 crore and threatening dire consequences if the amount was not paid. The email even warned that his fate would be similar to that of his father, Baba Siddique. It falsely claimed that Lawrence Bishnoi was not involved in Baba Siddique’s death, seemingly to mislead investigators.
Following an Interpol lookout notice, the accused was traced and arrested. The Crime Branch has now launched a wider probe to identify other potential victims targeted by Naushad through similar online extortion attempts.
