Sydney (The Uttam Hindu): Riding on brilliant batting performances from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, India won the third ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground by nine wickets. With this, the three-match series ended 2-1.

Rohit Sharma, who had scored 73 runs at the Adelaide Oval, made a brilliant comeback to form by scoring an unbeaten 121 runs in the next match. On the other hand, Virat Kohli, who was out for zero in the first two matches of the series, played an unbeaten inning of 74 runs on this ground. Australia, who won the toss and came to bat, were all out for just 236 runs in 46.4 overs. For this team, captain Mitchell Marsh (41) and Travis Head (29) added 61 runs for the first wicket, while Matthew Short was out after scoring 30 runs.

Australia had lost three wickets at the score of 124. From there, Matt Renshaw put on a 67-ball 59-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Alex Carey. Renshaw was dismissed for 56 off 58 balls. His innings included two fours, while Carey scored 24 off 37 balls. Cooper Connolly also contributed 23 runs for the team. For India, Harshit Rana took four wickets for 39 runs, while Washington Sundar took two wickets. In response, the opening pair of Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma put on a 69-run partnership in 10.2 overs. Gill was dismissed for 24 off 26 balls, including a six and two fours.

From here, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took charge. The two batsmen forged an unbroken 168-run partnership from 169 balls, leading India to victory in just 38.3 overs. Rohit remained unbeaten on 121 off 125 balls, his innings laced with three sixes and 13 fours. Kohli, meanwhile, scored 74 off 81 balls with seven fours. Josh Hazlewood was the only successful bowler from the opposition, taking one wicket for 23 runs in six overs. The Australian team had already won the first two matches of the series. Australia won the first match of the series in Perth by seven wickets using the Duckworth-Lewis method, followed by a two-wicket win in the second match played in Adelaide.
