Shri Charani's Record-Breaking T20 Series: A Stellar Start to Her Career

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Even though the Indian women's cricket team lost the fifth T20 match against England by five wickets at Edgbaston, left-arm spinner Sri Charani did a unique feat in this series.

20-year-old Shri Charani made his T20 debut in this series. He played all five matches of the series, taking 10 wickets at an average of 14.8.

With this, Shri Charani has jointly reached the first position in the list of Indian women players who have taken the most wickets in T20 series. Apart from Shri Charani, Radha Yadav has also achieved the feat of taking 10 wickets in a single T20 series. Radha Yadav did this against Bangladesh in the year 2024.

In this list, after Shri Charani-Radha Yadav, comes the name of Deepti Sharma, who has taken 9 wickets in the same series against England.

Shri Charani has made her debut in the ODI format before the T20 series. She has played five ODIs in her career, in which she has taken six wickets.

Shri Charani took four wickets for 12 runs in the first match of the series against England. After this, he took two wickets each in the next three matches. However, he could not get any wicket in the last match.

Team India has won this series played between India and England by 3-2.

Batting first in the fifth match of the series at Edgbaston, India scored 167 for seven.

In this innings of India, Shefali Verma scored 75 runs in 41 balls with the help of one six and 13 fours.

For England, Charlie Dean took the maximum of three wickets, while Sophie Ecclestone got two wickets.

In response, England won on the last ball. The opening pair gave England a great start. Sophia Dunkley and Danielle Wyatt-Hodge added 101 runs in 10.4 overs. Dunkley was dismissed after scoring 46 runs in 30 balls, while Danielle scored 56 runs in 37 balls. Apart from these, captain Tammy Beaumont contributed 30 runs to the team's account.

For India, Deepti Sharma and Arundhati Reddy took two wickets each. Whereas, Radha Yadav took one wicket.
