Ahmedabad(The Uttam Hindu): South Africa made history by winning the first-ever double Super Over in a T20 World Cup match against Afghanistan, held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match was a nail-biter, with South Africa posting 187/6, thanks to half-centuries from Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton. Afghanistan fought back, but a dramatic finish saw them tie the score, leading to a Super Over. In the first Super Over, Afghanistan scored 17, and South Africa matched it. In the second Super Over, South Africa scored 23, but Afghanistan fell short with 19 runs.

The match was marked by intense moments, including a no-ball in the final over that nearly handed Afghanistan the win. Tristan Stubbs's stunning finish, smashing 10 off the last three balls, forced the Super Over. Rahmanullah Gurbaz's aggressive 84 was crucial for Afghanistan, but ultimately, South Africa's nerve held.
