Star Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal hospitalized after health deteriorates post match
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): While cricket fans were focused on the excitement of the IPL auction, a concerning update emerged regarding young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. After a Super League match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Pune, his health suddenly worsened, forcing his immediate hospitalization.
According to sources, a few hours after the match between Mumbai and Rajasthan, Jaiswal complained of severe stomach pain. It is reported that he experienced abdominal cramps during the match itself, which intensified after the game ended. He was then taken to Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where doctors confirmed acute gastroenteritis following medical examinations.
The 23-year-old batter was administered medication through intravenous drip at the hospital. Essential tests, including ultrasound and CT scans, were also conducted. Doctors have advised him to continue medication and take complete rest for the time being.
Notably, despite being unwell, Jaiswal featured in the match against Rajasthan. Chasing a target of 217 runs, he scored 15 runs off 16 balls. Mumbai’s victory in the match was largely powered by captain Ajinkya Rahane’s unbeaten 72-run knock and Sarfaraz Khan’s explosive 73 off just 22 balls. However, despite the win, Mumbai failed to progress further in the tournament.
During the match, Jaiswal appeared visibly uncomfortable and required medical attention soon after it concluded. As of now, the BCCI has not issued any official statement regarding his health, though an update is expected in the coming days.
