T20 World Cup 2026: 20 teams finalized — check full list here
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – The next edition of the T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in 2026. A total of 20 teams will participate in this mega tournament, some of which were confirmed for the 2024 T20 World Cup, while others secured their spots through the qualifiers.
While the names of three teams were to be decided from the East Asia Pacific Qualifier 2025, in which Nepal and Oman confirmed their places on October 15, after which the names of a total of 19 teams were finalized, while now UAE has also made its place for the mega tournament, with which the names of all the 20 teams participating in the T20 World Cup 2026 have been finalized.
The Super Six match of the East Asia Pacific Qualifier 2025 was played between the UAE and Japan at the Al-Amerat Cricket Ground on October 16. After winning the toss, the UAE decided to bowl first, restricting Japan to 116 runs in 20 overs. Chasing the target for the UAE, Alishan Sharfu and captain Mohammad Wasim made a brilliant start, sharing a 70-run opening partnership. This helped the UAE achieve the target in 12.1 overs for the loss of 2 wickets, securing their place in the T20 World Cup 2026.
