Cricketer Yash Dayal May Be Arrested Soon; High Court Denies Protection in Rape Case
Jaipur (The Uttam Hindu): Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer and IPL 2025 champion Yash Dayal has failed to get relief from the Rajasthan High Court in a rape case involving a minor girl. The court, led by Justice Sudesh Bansal, refused to stay the arrest or halt police proceedings, citing the victim’s minor status under the POCSO Act. The court has summoned the case diary and set August 22 as the date for the next hearing.
Dayal’s legal representative, Advocate Kunal Jaiman, claimed that a similar case was earlier filed in Ghaziabad, where the Allahabad High Court had stayed his arrest. The lawyer alleged that this was part of an orchestrated scheme by a blackmail gang targeting high-profile individuals.
According to Sanganer Police, the complaint was filed by a young woman from Jaipur who first met Yash Dayal while playing cricket. She alleged that two years ago, when she was 17 years old, Dayal sexually assaulted her under the pretext of helping her cricket career. The case also includes allegations of another incident during the IPL 2025 season at a hotel in Jaipur.
Police have registered the case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. This is not the first time Yash Dayal has been in controversy. He was earlier criticized for allegedly sharing a religiously sensitive post on Instagram, which he later deleted, claiming he did not post it himself.
