Allahabad (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant development, the Allahabad High Court has granted relief to Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Yash Dayal, staying his arrest in connection with an FIR lodged against him for allegedly exploiting a woman for five years. The FIR was registered on July 6 at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means.

The woman alleged that Yash Dayal had promised to marry her around five years ago but kept postponing the proposal and was involved with other women. Yash, however, has denied these allegations and claimed that the woman had borrowed lakhs of rupees from him under the pretext of medical treatment for herself and her family, which she has not repaid. He also alleged that she stole his iPhone and laptop.

Yash Dayal had lodged a complaint with the Prayagraj police, seeking an FIR against the woman, accusing her of theft and not repaying the borrowed amount. He claimed that they met through Instagram four years ago.

A bench of Justice Siddharth Varma and Anil Kumar granted Yash Dayal relief, staying his arrest till the next date of listing. The court expressed skepticism about the woman's allegations, questioning how someone could be fooled for five years.

The case will now proceed according to the law, with the court expected to hear the matter again on a future date. Yash Dayal's legal team, led by Gopal Swaroop Chaturvedi, argued for the stay on arrest, which has been granted by the court.
