Pune (The Uttam Hindu) : Playing for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Haryana, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a blistering century, putting Shubman Gill in trouble. Jaiswal's century could jeopardize Gill's place in the Indian T20 team.

In the match played at the DY Patil Academy in Pune, Haryana, batting first, scored 234 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Mumbai were set a mammoth target of 235 runs to win. Jaiswal, with his blistering batting, not only made this target look small but also led his team to a 4-wicket victory with 15 balls to spare.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who came to open the innings, scored 101 runs in 50 balls with the help of 16 fours and 1 six. During this, he scored a half-century in 23 balls and a century in 48 balls. Jaiswal got good support from Sarfaraz Khan. Sarfaraz also batted explosively and scored 64 runs in just 25 balls with the help of 9 fours and 3 sixes. The two shared a stormy partnership of 88 runs in 37 balls.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's century has caused the most concern for Indian T20 captain Shubman Gill. Yashasvi Jaiswal was once part of the T20 team and played as an opener. His performance has also been good. Since Shubman Gill's entry into the T20 team as an opener, Jaiswal has been out of the format despite his impressive record.

Meanwhile, Gill hasn't scored a single half-century in his last 15 T20 matches. Jaiswal's century has increased the pressure on him to perform better. If Gill's poor form continues, he could lose his place in the T20 team. Besides Jaiswal, Gill also faces a threat from Samson. Despite scoring three centuries as an opener in T20s, Samson is unable to secure a place in the playing eleven due to Gill.
