Kanpur (The Uttam Hindu): A very shocking case has come to light from Kanpur Collectorate of Uttar Pradesh. Here, three employees who got government jobs and were sitting on the chair of 'Babu' (junior clerk) have been demoted by the administration and made fourth class employees. This strict action was taken because these three employees could not fulfill the basic condition of typing 25 words in a minute as per the prescribed standard. After this strict decision of District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, there is panic in the entire Collectorate premises as well as in other government departments and there is an atmosphere of fear among the employees who are negligent in their work.

Got the job through deceased dependent quota, could not fulfill the conditions

The three employees targeted in the action have been identified as Premnath Yadav, Amit Kumar Yadav, and Neha Srivastava. All three were given government jobs under the Dependents of Deceased Quota as a compassionate gesture following the death of a family member. According to government rules, a junior clerk must pass a typing test within one year of employment, achieving a speed of 25 words per minute. However, these three completely failed to prove this basic competency.

Increment was stopped in 2024, failure in 2025 also led to the wrath

The administration had given these employees ample opportunity to improve. When the first typing test was conducted in 2024, these three employees still failed to achieve the required speed. Instead of punishing them directly, the administration issued a warning and withheld their increments. It was hoped they would improve their performance the next time. A final test was then held for them in 2025, but the results were the same. After failing the typing test for the second consecutive time, the administration took it seriously.

The DM gave a strong message by snatching the chair when work was affected

After reviewing the report of two consecutive failures, District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh issued a strict decision without any leniency. Premnath Yadav, posted at the DM's camp office, and Amit Kumar and Neha Srivastava, working at the Collectorate, were removed from their junior clerk positions and directly promoted to Class IV positions. Clarifying its stance, the administration stated that file work, noting, and document preparation in important offices like the Collectorate rely entirely on typing. If an employee cannot perform even basic responsibilities, work is severely affected. This action sends a clear message to the entire department that any form of incompetence in government work will no longer be tolerated.
