BJP leader's shocking assault: Woman attacked in her home, party demands answers as video surfaces
Satna (The Uttam Hindu): A shameful case of hooliganism by a BJP leader intoxicated with influence and power has come to light in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district. Pulkit Tandon, the BJP's Mandal President from Nagaud, has been accused of entering a woman's home and assaulting and brutalizing her. CCTV footage of the entire incident went viral on social media, causing a stir in political circles. Police have registered a case against the accused leader.
Woman brutalized between iron bars
The viral video and the victim's complaint have sent shockwaves. The incident is said to have occurred late at night, when the accused politician forcibly entered the victim's home. CCTV footage clearly shows the accused abusing the woman in a warehouse-like area containing iron rods. The victim stated in her complaint that Pulkit Tandon not only abused her, but also severely beat her and mentally tortured her. The woman alleges that the accused had been harassing her for a long time by intimidating her with his political position.
Police registered a case, ASP said – footage became the basis
Terrified by the incident, the victim mustered courage and went to the Nagaud police station to file a written complaint. Given the sensitivity of the case, the Nagaud police immediately registered an FIR against the accused, BJP leader Pulkit Tandon, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). ASP Prem Lal Kurve stated that the police have initiated action based on CCTV footage and the victim's statements.
Congress attacks, BJP on the back foot
This incident has once again exposed the claims of women's safety in the state. As soon as the video went viral, opposition parties began to corner the government. Congress state president Jitu Patwari strongly criticized the government over the incident, asking if this was the true face of "chal, chaatra, aur chehra" (conduct, character, and face). Seeing the sharp opposition stance and public anger, the BJP organization also swung into action. The district party office issued a notice to the accused Mandal president, demanding a response within a week. Currently, this incident remains a topic of discussion throughout the area.
