Ban on Old Vehicles in Delhi Put on Hold, To Be Implemented from November 1 Across NCR
New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News)- The fuel ban on 15 year old petrol and 10 year old diesel vehicles in Delhi has been lifted for now. CAQM held a meeting today in relation to providing relief to old vehicles, in which this decision has been taken. In the meeting, CAQM has accepted the request of the Delhi government. CAQM has currently postponed the campaign of not giving petrol-diesel to old vehicles in Delhi and seizing them for about four months.
If officials are to be believed, action against overage vehicles in the national capital will now be implemented from November 1. This time the ban on overage vehicles will not be limited to Delhi only. It will be applicable in Delhi as well as five NCR districts. According to the information, a meeting of the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) was held on Tuesday after the Delhi government requested to review its decision of not giving fuel to overage vehicles from July 1. In the same meeting, it was decided that the action against old vehicles in Delhi will now be implemented from November 1. The commission has also decided that the scope of action against overage vehicles will also increase from November 1. This action will be implemented in five NCR districts along with Delhi. The commission unanimously decided that it would be appropriate to implement fuel ban simultaneously in Delhi and NCR districts from November 1. Now from November 1, restrictions will also be implemented in Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad and Sonipat.
Delhi government's Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa had written a letter to the pollution control body asking to stop the decision of fuel ban for overage vehicles. He had said that it is requested that the order be stopped with immediate effect until the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system is integrated in the entire NCR.
