Her in-laws claim that she was extremely distressed by her prolonged illness. Most horrifyingly, Chandni's younger sister, Neelam, was present when she was making a noose from the pallu of her saree. Neelam tried her best to stop her and pull her down from the noose, but Chandni, determined to embrace death, bit her sister's hand and hanged herself. Upon receiving information about the incident, police and forensic teams arrived at the scene and began an investigation, and her parents have also been informed.
