Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Expected in Several Districts In next 48 Hours, Delhi to Receive Heavy Rain

Varanasi (The Uttam Hindu): Heavy rainfall alerts have been issued for several districts in Uttar Pradesh, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting intense rain and thunderstorms in the next 48 hours. The water level of rivers has risen significantly, with the Ganga river reaching Namo Ghat in Varanasi.

Districts Expected to Receive Heavy Rainfall:

1. Eastern Uttar Pradesh: Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Varanasi, Sultanpur, Jaunpur, Prayagraj, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Bhadohi, Ambedkar Nagar, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar and Sant Kabir Nagar.

2. Western Uttar Pradesh: Rampur, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly and Lakhimpur Kheri are expected to experience heavy rains with thundershowers.

3. Other Districts: Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Hardoi, Sitapur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Basti, Ayodhya, Gonda, Barabanki, Lucknow, Amethi, Rae Bareli, Fatehpur, Banda and Unnao may experience rain and thundershowers.

Safety Precautions:

The IMD has advised people to be cautious and avoid going out unless necessary. Residents are also warned to stay away from open areas, trees, and lightning-prone zones during the rain and take shelter in safe places.¹

Rainfall Outlook:

The series of heavy rains is expected to continue on July 17, with a possibility of rain in different areas until July 21. Meanwhile, Delhi is also expected to experience heavy rain in the next few hours, with a possibility of lightning.
