MP DM's Temper Fails: Slaps Rain Down on Student in Exam Centre, CCTV Captures It All
Bhind/Bhopal (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking video from Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh is going viral on social media, in which a senior IAS officer is seen slapping a student during an exam. The accused officer is Bhind District Magistrate (DM) Sanjeev Srivastava. The incident is said to have taken place on April 1, but after its CCTV footage has surfaced, there is panic in administrative circles.
What is the whole matter?
According to the information, the incident took place in Deendayal Dangrulia Mahavidyalaya of Bhind, where the BSc second year examination was going on. During this time, DM Sanjeev Srivastava arrived for inspection. It is alleged that he caught a student named Rohit Rathod on suspicion of cheating and slapped him.
The viral CCTV footage clearly shows the DM slapping the student and then taking him to another room. He is also seen beating the student in the staff room and saying, “Where is your paper, you were writing in the air?”
What did both sides say?
Giving clarification on this matter, DM Sanjeev Srivastava said that he had received information about mass cheating in the college. He alleged that some students were sending their question papers outside to get them solved and Rohit had also done the same because he did not have his own question paper.
On the other hand, the victim student Rohit Rathod says that his ear got hurt due to the DM's slap. He rejected all the allegations of cheating against him and said that he could not react because there was an IAS officer in front of him.
Anger on social media, demand for action
As soon as the video went viral, users on social media erupted in anger. Many people have tagged the Madhya Pradesh government and the Chief Minister and demanded strict action against the officer. Users say that even if the student is at fault, an administrative officer has no right to take the law into his hands and resort to violence like this.
