Karnataka power‑sharing showdown: DK Shivakumar meets Siddaramaiah, Congress high command to decide CM fate in Delhi
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A major political stir is being witnessed in the Karnataka Congress amid the ongoing tussle over the post of Chief Minister. Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his home. Actually, there is tension within the party regarding the pressure and support between the two leaders for the post of Chief Minister. DK Shivakumar's supporters are putting pressure to make Siddaramaiah the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah invited DK Shivakumar to his home for breakfast today, so that talks can be held towards resolving the ongoing power struggle within the party.
After meeting the Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar will fly to Delhi to meet the party high command. There, he will meet party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Regarding this meeting, Siddaramaiah said on Friday, "The high command has called us, so I have invited DK Shivakumar for breakfast. We will discuss the matter, and I will follow whatever the high command decides." DK Shivakumar also said, "We will follow whatever the high command directs."
This makes it clear that the final decision regarding the Chief Minister's post will be made in Delhi. Both Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar have expressed their willingness to respect the party's decision. It is believed that the high command, under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge, may soon make a decision on this matter.
