Lalu Yadav passes the baton: Tejashwi Yadav appointed RJD's working president
Patna (Uttam Hindu News): Sunday was a significant day in Bihar politics. In a major step toward leadership change within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Tejashwi Prasad Yadav was elected as the party's acting president. The RJD's national executive unanimously approved this proposal. This important meeting was chaired by party national president and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. Given his advancing age and persistent health problems, Lalu Prasad has decided to hand over the party's leadership to his son, Tejashwi.
Rohini Acharya questions leadership amidst coronation
While Tejashwi's coronation is energizing his supporters, the voices within the family and the party are telling a different story. Just before the National Executive meeting, Lalu Yadav's daughter and Tejashwi's sister, Rohini Acharya, created a stir in political circles by writing a post on social media. Through her post, Rohini has raised questions about Tejashwi Yadav's leadership abilities, which has given the opposition a ready-made issue. However, the MLAs present in the meeting said that this meeting was called to strengthen the organization.
300 leaders who 'betrayed' the election will face action
This was the first major RJD meeting since the assembly election defeat, and Tejashwi Yadav appeared aggressive. According to sources, the party's state president, Mangani Lal Mandal, submitted a detailed report to Tejashwi regarding the electoral defeat and the internal sabotage. Based on this report, strict action could be taken against approximately 300 leaders and workers who harmed the party during the elections and remained inactive. It is believed that significant changes may soon be seen in key positions such as the state president and general secretary.
He broke his vow of remaining silent for 100 days and attacked Nitish Kumar and the BJP
Tejashwi Yadav had previously announced that he would not comment on the government's performance for 100 days after the new government was formed, but he broke his silence, citing the law and order situation in Bihar. Reaching the party office on Saturday, Tejashwi launched a scathing attack on the Nitish Kumar government and the BJP. He alleged that the government has failed to curb crime and that BJP leaders are spreading propaganda that crime has increased after Tejashwi's return from abroad to hide their failure.
The ruling party has also retaliated to Tejashwi's attack. JDU spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar sarcastically said that someone who couldn't even keep his vow of silence for 100 days is not fit to analyze politics.
