Love turns deadly: Dowry demand ends in brutal stabbing of fiancée
Jabalpur (The Uttam Hindu): A horrific incident has come to light from the Adhartal police station area of Jabalpur district in Madhya Pradesh. In the Richhai Industrial Area, a distraught lover stabbed his former fiancée to death. The deceased had broken off the marriage due to dowry demands and the groom's bad behavior, which angered the accused and he carried out this horrific incident. Acting swiftly, police have arrested the main accused, Sahil Rajak, and his accomplice, Ajay.
They met at a wedding ceremony and were to marry in February
Additional Superintendent of Police Suryakant Sharma, providing details of the case, said the deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Richa Rajak, a resident of Imalia village and a factory worker in Richhai. Richa and the accused, Sahil, met at a wedding ceremony about two years ago. Gradually, they grew close, and with the consent of both families, their relationship was finalized. They were also engaged and were scheduled to marry the following month, February.
Dowry of Rs 5 lakh and suspicion became the reason for murder
After the engagement, Sahil and his family's intentions changed. According to the police, Sahil called Richa's family and began demanding a dowry of ₹5 lakh. When his demands were not met, he abused and mistreated the girl's family. Fed up with Sahil's greedy and violent behavior, Richa refused to marry him and broke off the relationship. The breakup left Sahil devastated. He also suspected that Richa was talking to another man, leading him to constantly threaten to kill her.
Attacked on the road while returning from the factory
Police officials said the incident occurred Thursday night. Sahil, along with his friend Ajay, rode a motorcycle to the Richhai industrial area. They intercepted Richa, who was returning home from work at the factory, and attacked her with a knife. The accused stabbed her three or four times in the neck and chest, causing her to collapse in a pool of blood. The seriously injured Richa was taken to the Medical College Hospital for treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries on Friday afternoon. Police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
