Patna (The Uttam Hindu): As the Bihar Assembly elections heat up, political parties are witnessing a surge in rebellion and infighting over ticket distribution. The latest incident involves the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), where a leader, upset over being denied a ticket, staged a "kurta-tearing" protest outside Rabri Devi's residence in Patna and lay down on the street, crying.

RJD leader Madan Shah has made a serious allegation against the party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav of selling tickets for Rs 2 crore 70 lakh.

This high-voltage drama unfolded right in front of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi's residence at 10 Circular Road. Madan Shah, a former candidate from the Madhuban assembly constituency in East Champaran, was so upset at being denied his ticket that he tore his kurta and lay down on the road to register his protest. (Although the Hindi film song "Main Laila Laila Chillaunga Kurta Phaad Ke" fits the bill, here the regret was not about "Laila" but about "ticket").

Madan Shah, weeping inconsolably in front of Rabri's residence, alleged, "I was told to bring 27 million rupees, and I'm ruined. I have two sons and two daughters, and I haven't married either of them. The ticket was stolen and sold."

He directly accused Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav of brokering, saying, "I contested the 2020 election and lost by just 2,000 votes. Sanjay Yadav comes from Haryana and sells tickets here." Madan Shah said that he has been associated with the RJD since 1990, but the party ignored him and gave the ticket to an outsider.

This incident comes at a time when election fever is running high in Bihar. Nominations for the first phase have concluded, and the second phase is underway. Meanwhile, similar discontent and protests are emerging within almost every party regarding ticket distribution.
