Vrindavan bound? New year's travel alert: Outside vehicles banned till this date, know details inside
Mathura (The Uttam Hindu): If you are also preparing to go to Vrindavan for New Year's celebrations and religious pilgrimage, then this news is very important for you. In view of the crowd of lakhs of devotees gathering in the major temples of Vrindavan including Thakur Banke Bihari Temple, Mathura Police has made a major change in the traffic system. The police has completely banned the entry of four-wheelers and heavy commercial vehicles coming from outside districts and states into Vrindavan city from 25 December to 2 January 2026.
According to police, devotees coming from Delhi and other states will no longer be able to enter the city directly in their vehicles. This strict measure has been taken to protect the city from traffic jams and accidents. Outside vehicles must be parked in designated parking lots outside the city. From there, devotees can travel to the temples by e-rickshaw or on foot. However, additional restrictions may be imposed on the operation of e-rickshaws on certain days, depending on the crowds.
For the convenience of pilgrims, the police have made extensive parking arrangements. Vehicles arriving from the Yamuna Expressway can park at the Daruk parking lot or the tourist facilitation center on the Panigaon Link Road. Temporary parking spaces have been designated near the Vaishno Devi Temple, the ITI College, and the Pagal Baba Temple for vehicles arriving from the Chhatikara route.
A separate diversion plan has also been prepared for heavy vehicles, prohibiting all commercial vehicles from traveling from Chhatikara to Vrindavan. However, the police have provided relief to local residents by allowing entry upon presentation of ID cards. Furthermore, emergency service vehicles such as ambulances and fire brigades have been exempted from this restriction, ensuring immediate assistance in case of any untoward incident.
