Wedding wends way to funeral: Groom's life cut short in truck crash

Baghpat (The Uttam Hindu): A heartbreaking incident has come to light from Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, which has shocked everyone. Here the echo of Shehnai and the joy of marriage turned into screams and cries when a speeding vehicle crushed the groom just before the Ghudchadhi (Chadhat) ritual. The groom died a painful death in an instant. In the house where the bride's palanquin was to arrive shortly, preparations are now underway for the groom's funeral procession. After this horrific accident, there is chaos in both the families and silence prevails at the wedding venue.

According to the incident, the wedding procession of Subodh, a resident of Pichokara village, arrived in Sarurpur village in Baghpat on Sunday evening. The procession stopped at the Panchayat house, where snacks, drinks, and fun were being served. The family and the wedding party were busy preparing for the Chadhat, dancing and singing, and a celebratory atmosphere prevailed. According to family members, at around 11 p.m., the groom, Subodh, suddenly felt uneasy and felt nauseous. He got out of his decorated vehicle and began vomiting on the roadside, when an uncontrolled, speeding truck coming from the front hit him. The impact was so severe that the truck dragged the groom for several meters, and the driver then fled the scene.

As soon as the accident occurred, chaos erupted at the scene. The family immediately rushed the blood-soaked groom to the nearby Aastha Hospital, from where he was referred to the district hospital. However, by then it was too late, and after examination, doctors declared Subodh dead. Dr. Raj Singh of the district hospital stated that the deceased, Subodh, was a physiotherapist by profession and had died in the road accident. Upon receiving the information, Binauli police station arrived at the scene and sent the body for post-mortem. Police are scanning the highway and nearby CCTV cameras in search of the absconding truck driver.

This lightning strike has completely devastated the bride's family and the groom's family. The deceased, Subodh, was the only son of his family. The wedding venue where the wedding was to take place is now shrouded in mourning. The bride is in deep shock, and her family is inconsolable. Sukhpal Singh, a relative of the groom, said that fate has dealt them a cruel blow. Subodh had only gotten out of the car to vomit, but little did he know that the truck coming like death would take him away forever. This death in a joyous wedding procession has saddened the entire area.
