Woman Set Ablaze Over Dowry in Greater Noida, Husband Arrested

Noida( The Uttam Hindu): A disturbing incident occurred in Greater Noida's Sirsa village where a woman named Nikki was assaulted by her husband and in-laws allegedly over dowry demands. Footage shows Nikki being dragged by her hair and later walking down stairs while on fire. Her elder sister Kanchan, who is also married into the same family, stated that both sisters were tortured for dowry. The in-laws reportedly demanded Rs 36 lakh.

According to Kanchan, Nikki was brutally assaulted in front of her and the children on Thursday night. The in-laws allegedly threw a liquid on Nikki and set her ablaze. Kanchan fought back tears while saying she wants justice and for her in-laws to suffer like they made Nikki suffer. Nikki's son recalled that his mother was slapped and set on fire using a lighter.

Nikki was taken to a hospital with severe burn injuries and later died on the way to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Based on Kanchan's complaint, a case has been registered. The husband, Vipin, has been arrested. Police are searching for Nikki's father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law.
