Young Woman assaulted twice in one day, then killed; betrayals preceded her death
Odisha (The Uttam Hindu): In Odisha 's Jagatsinghpur district, a 23-year-old woman was raped and later murdered at two different places on the same day. Police have arrested two accused in this case. This incident took place on February 22. On the morning of February 22, at around 10 am, the woman had left her home with her lover Somnath Ojha with the plan of eloping and getting married. Her lover Somnath had called her to Sarala Temple in Jagatsinghpur on the pretext of marriage. When the woman reached there, instead of marrying her, the accused lover took her to a deserted place. There he raped her and later left her at Rahma bus stand and fled.
A girl was raped twice in a single day and then murdered. Her lover betrayed her first and then became a helper. : After the incident, the girl stood alone and in a distressed state at Rahma bus stand for a long time. Meanwhile, a young man on a bike, identified as Shubham Kumar Singh, a resident of Dhanbad, Jharkhand, reached there. Seeing the girl alone, he offered to help her. According to the police, he assured her that he would take her to a safe place. After this, he made her sit on his motorcycle and took her to his rented house in Paradip. The accused youth took the girl to the terrace of his rented house and raped her again. After this, he pushed the girl down from the terrace of a 4-storey building. The girl died on the spot due to the fall. Her body was recovered the next morning.
According to police records, when the woman did not return home on the evening of February 22nd, her brother filed a missing person report at the Tirtol police station on the 23rd. After the woman's body was found on February 23rd, a case of unnatural death was registered. Subsequently, on February 25th, the brother filed a written complaint at the Paradip Model police station, alleging rape and murder. During the investigation, police arrested both accused. A case has been filed against the accused under sections 87, 75(2), 79, 69, and 64(2)(m) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused lover, Somnath Ojha, has been charged with kidnapping, rape, and murder. The accused bike rider, Shubham Kumar Singh, who also committed the rape and murder, has been charged under sections 140(3), 103(1), 64(1), 64(2)(l), and 238 of the IPC. The accused's motorcycle and mobile phones have also been seized as part of the investigation.
Police say a thorough investigation is underway and all evidence, including the post-mortem report, has been included in the investigation. According to officials, both accused involved in the incident will be presented in court and further legal action will be taken.
