Apple Watch to the rescue: Alerts save two lives in India - A Heart attack and a drowning incident
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Apple Watch has made headlines in India by saving two lives in just one month. Both incidents occurred in October, and their stories are now going viral online. In one case, the watch saved a man from Madhya Pradesh from a heart stroke, while in the other, it saved a man from Mumbai while scuba diving.
According to media reports, the incident occurred in late October. Sahil, a 26-year-old from Madhya Pradesh, was on a business trip.
After finishing the meeting, he planned to watch a movie. While he was sitting comfortably in the air-conditioned theater, he received an alert on his Apple Watch, telling him that his heart rate had increased significantly. This alert was surprising, considering he had been sitting comfortably for nearly two hours.
Sahil didn't ignore this alert. His heart rate on the watch was 150 bpm (beats per minute). He immediately went to a doctor, who performed an ECG and blood tests. The tests revealed that his heartbeat was indeed at a dangerous level. The doctor told him that if he took his next train journey in this condition, he could have a stroke or brain hemorrhage. The timely alert from the Apple Watch saved his life. Sahil later wrote an email thanking Apple CEO Tim Cook.
The second incident occurred in early October when Mumbai resident Kshitij Jodpe was scuba diving near Puducherry. His underwater support belt suddenly came loose, and he tried to rescue himself.
At that very moment, his Apple Watch Ultra sensed danger. The watch's siren (alert) sounded, and its screen light brightened. His underwater instructor immediately noticed the bright light and alarm and helped Kshitij in time, saving his life. Kshitij later revealed that he himself was unaware of this amazing safety feature of the Apple Watch.
