Major scare: SpiceJet plane’s wheel falls off after takeoff, passengers at risk

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu)- A SpiceJet Q400 aircraft coming from Kandla to Mumbai narrowly escaped a major accident. Immediately after takeoff, a wheel of the aircraft fell on the runway, raising suspicion of a technical fault. There were about 78 passengers including the crew on board the aircraft.

The pilots showed presence of mind and decided to take the plane to Mumbai. At 3:51 pm, the plane made an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). As a precaution, a full emergency was declared at the airport. The plane landed safely on runway 27.

SpiceJet and aviation authorities have started investigating this incident. Officials say that after the investigation, necessary steps will be taken to further strengthen the security standards so that such incidents do not happen in future.
