Man follows Google Maps to ‘Road of Death’ — horrifying sight awaits; watch the shocking video
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): There was a time when the only way to get directions was to ask a shopkeeper, stop a passerby, or rely on an auto driver. With the advent of mobile phones and digital maps, this problem has been significantly reduced. But Google Maps cannot be blindly trusted. A living example of this has emerged: a man narrowly escaped falling into a ditch while using Google Maps.
In the viral video, a young man is seen standing on the very edge of a mountain with his bike. The mobile phone attached to the bike's handlebars shows the route via Google Maps. The problem is that in the direction Maps is directing, there's no road at all; instead, there's only a deep ravine ahead. Watching the video, it seems that if the man had followed Maps' advice and moved even an inch further, a serious accident could have occurred. This is why the video is rapidly going viral on social media and attracting attention.
This whole issue again highlights the fact that Google Maps can sometimes be confusing. Whether due to network issues or incorrect location data, Maps can sometimes suggest routes that can put users in trouble.
