New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 has reportedly been spotted in the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database, signaling an imminent launch. While Nintendo previously confirmed the release of the console for 2025 through a trailer, the exact date has remained unannounced. However, with the recent FCC listing, the device could be launching soon, with further details expected during the Nintendo Direct event on April 2.

According to reports, including one from *The Verge*, the Nintendo Switch 2 will support Wi-Fi 6 and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Wi-Fi 6, a widely adopted wireless standard, enhances efficiency, speed, and capacity compared to previous versions like Wi-Fi 5, operating primarily on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands. Although the newer Wi-Fi 6E standard offers even faster speeds, Wi-Fi 6 is more commonly used in regions like India due to regulatory concerns and limited availability of the 6GHz band.

The inclusion of NFC support suggests continued compatibility with Amiibo figurines, allowing users to unlock additional in-game content by tapping these interactive figures during gameplay. The filings also confirm the presence of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) feature in the right Joy-Con, similar to the original Switch. Additionally, the Switch 2 is reported to feature a second USB-C port on the top of the console, enabling charging from either the top or bottom port, a first for the Switch series.

More information about the Nintendo Switch 2 will be unveiled during the upcoming Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025.
