NASA and ISRO Make History with NISAR: World's Most Expensive Earth-Imaging Satellite Launched! Watch VIDEO
New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News)- NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar Satellite has been launched. The GSLV-F16 rocket satellite took off from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.
NISAR satellite is a joint mission of NASA and ISRO. Both space agencies have developed it together. It will keep an eye on the entire earth. Although ISRO has previously launched earth monitoring satellites including Resourcesat and RISAT, these satellites were limited to monitoring only the Indian region. NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) is the world's first radar satellite, which will map the earth systematically from space. Not only this, it is the first satellite that uses dual radar bands (L-band and S-band) so that it can monitor different types of environmental and geological conditions. After reaching space, this satellite will revolve in low earth orbit. NISAR will monitor the earth by staying in space for three years.
NISAR is a high-tech satellite. Its full name is NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar. It has been built jointly by the US space agency NASA and the Indian agency ISRO. 1.5 billion dollars i.e. about 12,500 crore rupees have been spent on this mission.
