Sampanna portal integrates with DigiLocker: A major boost for digital India, empowering pensioners
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : The government on Wednesday announced that the 'Sampanna' pension portal has now been integrated with DigiLocker, enabling pensioners to access Pension Payment Orders (e-PPOs), gratuity orders and other important documents online anytime, anywhere.
The "Sampanna" pension portal has been developed by the Office of the Controller General of Communication Accounts. Under the "Digital India" program, all Department of Telecommunications pensioners have been informed of this successful integration. "Sampanna" users can enter their PPO number in each service category and click "Get Document." The system will then automatically generate the pension certificate, gratuity payment order, commutation payment order, or Form 16 as requested.
According to the Ministry of Communications, this integration will allow pensioners to access important documents like communication approval orders and Form-16 directly into their DigiLocker accounts. The government stated that this feature can be used anytime, anywhere, from a smartphone or computer. This will ensure secure access to documents, eliminate the need for paper, and simplify important tasks like banking or medical reimbursements. Ashish Joshi, Principal Controller of Communication Accounts, Delhi, said that this initiative will eliminate the need for paper documents, saving time and money for pensioners in Delhi-NCR and beyond.
He also stated that this initiative empowers pensioners digitally and is in line with the government's goal of paperless digital governance. Pensioners can use this service by logging in to DigiLocker.gov.in using their Aadhaar, linking their PPO number, and instantly downloading the required documents.
The 'Sampanna' portal, dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 29, 2018, marks a major shift in administration from system-centric to pensioner-centric. This eliminates the need for retired employees and their families to run from office to office. This portal digitizes the entire pension process – from application to processing, issuance of e-pension payment orders, payments, accounting, audit, and grievance redressal.
