Abbas Ansari Found Guilty, Gets 2-Year Jail Term for Hate Speech
Mau (The Uttam Hindu) : Bahubali Mukhtar Ansari's son and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) MLA Abbas Ansari from Mau seat of UP has got a big setback from the court. Mau's CJM court has declared him guilty in the hate speech case and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment.
This verdict was pronounced in the District and Sessions Court of Mau. Chief Judicial Magistrate, MP-MLA Court Judge Dr. KP Singh has pronounced this verdict. Abbas Ansari was produced in the court premises amid tight security. Abbas Ansari's advocate Daroga Singh said that a verdict has come today in the hate speech case. A case was registered in Kotwali Nagar in 2022. Six witnesses appeared in that case. The Chief Judicial Magistrate has pronounced a sentence of two years. We will go to the Sessions Court against this order. Abbas Ansari's membership of the Legislative Assembly will be affected based on the order of the Sessions Court. Preparations are being made to move the Sessions Court against this matter.
It is known that during the 2022 assembly elections, Abbas Ansari had allegedly made such a statement in a public meeting, which was considered provocative and threatening to the officials. He had said that after coming to power 'everyone will be held accountable'. After this statement came to light, the Election Commission had banned Abbas Ansari's campaigning. After the case was registered by the UP Police, the hearing in this case was going on. Now he has been convicted in the case and sentenced.
