Road Horror: 7 Children Among 11 Killed as Pickup Smashes Into Container
Dausa (The Uttam Hindu) — In a heart-wrenching tragedy, 11 people lost their lives in a devastating road accident in Rajasthan’s Dausa district on Wednesday. The deadly crash occurred near Bapi on the Dausa–Manoharpur Road when a pickup van carrying devotees returning from Khatushyamji collided head-on with a speeding container truck.
The impact was so violent that 10 people — including seven children and three women — died on the spot. Another woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, raising the death toll to 11. Over 20 others were injured, many critically, and were rushed to Dausa District Hospital before several were referred to Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital for advanced treatment.
Eyewitnesses described a scene of utter devastation, with the pickup van mangled beyond recognition. Locals rushed to pull victims from the wreckage as a massive crowd gathered, causing a traffic jam that police later cleared. The sudden influx of over 20 injured patients created chaos at Dausa District Hospital, prompting emergency calls for additional medical staff. Dausa Collector Devendra Kumar Yadav and Superintendent of Police Sagar Rana visited the accident site and later checked on the injured at the hospital.
Preliminary reports suggest overspeeding and negligence as possible causes of the crash. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, directing officials to ensure immediate and proper treatment for the injured. “This tragic incident in Dausa is extremely saddening. I pray for peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery for the injured,” Sharma posted on X (formerly Twitter).
