Terror Panic in Delhi: Over 50 Schools Hit by Bomb Threat Emails, Students Evacuated
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The series of bomb threats targeting schools in the national capital once again created panic on Wednesday morning. Over 50 schools in Delhi received threatening emails claiming bombs were planted, triggering chaos and fear among students, parents, and school authorities.
According to reports, around 7:40 AM, several schools received the bomb threat emails. Initially, schools in Najafgarh, Malviya Nagar’s SKV Hauz Rani, Karol Bagh’s Andhra School, and Prasad Nagar were among those targeted. The Delhi Fire Service confirmed receiving multiple calls from different schools and expressed concern that many more institutions might have received similar emails.
Soon after receiving the information, Delhi Police, the Bomb Disposal Squad, and the Fire Department rushed to the spot and launched an intensive search operation. As a precaution, all affected schools were evacuated, and students were safely sent home.
Officials pointed out that this is not the first time schools in Delhi have faced such threats. Similar incidents occurred in May and July this year, when dozens of schools received fake bomb threat emails, all of which turned out to be hoaxes.
A senior police officer stated that initial investigations suggest this too may be a hoax, but no risks are being taken. He added, “Our teams are thoroughly checking each school, while the cyber forensic team is tracing the IP addresses of the emails to identify the sender.” Police appealed to parents and citizens to remain calm and not fall for rumors.
