New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): The auspicious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, the God of wisdom and intellect, will be celebrated across the country with immense devotion and joy on Wednesday, 27 August.
According to the Hindu calendar, the festival is observed on the Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the Bhadrapada month. The 10-day long Ganeshotsav will begin with this day and conclude on Anant Chaturdashi with the grand immersion of idols.

Simple Steps for Ganesh Idol Installation & Puja
Purify the place of worship by sprinkling holy water.
Place Lord Ganesha’s idol on a wooden platform covered with a red/yellow cloth (facing East).
Keep a Kalash filled with water nearby and place betel nuts symbolizing Riddhi and Siddhi.
Recite “Om Pundarikakshaya Namah” and take a Sankalp (pledge of worship).
Bathe the idol with Panchamrit (milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar), then dress it in clean clothes.
Offer sacred items including Janeu, sandalwood paste, sindoor, durva grass, rice, Shami leaves, yellow flowers, and fruits.
Light incense and lamps while chanting “Om Ganeshaya Namah”.
Present Lord Ganesha’s favorite sweets like Modak or Motichoor Laddoo.
