Tragic Accident in Himachal: Car Plunges 500 Meters into Gorge in Chamba, 6 Including Two Children Dead

Chamba(The Uttam Hindu): A devastating road accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district claimed six lives late Thursday night, including two children. The incident occurred in the Tissa region when a car traveling from Bhanjradu towards Chinwas Shahwa lost control and plunged nearly 500 meters into a deep gorge.

According to initial reports, the victims included two men, two women, and two children. The cause of the accident is yet to be confirmed, but slippery roads or a possible technical fault in the vehicle are being investigated.

Rescue teams, along with local residents, rushed to the spot immediately after the accident was reported. Despite swift rescue efforts, all six occupants were declared dead at the scene. The bodies have yet to be identified, and post-mortem examinations are underway.

The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the region. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the steep and winding mountain roads, especially during the monsoon season.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep grief over the loss of lives, extending condolences to the bereaved families and praying for strength during this difficult time. Former CM Jairam Thakur also expressed sorrow, calling the accident “deeply saddening” and praying for peace for the departed souls.
