Historic Day for J&K: PM Modi Inaugurates World's Highest Railway Bridge, Boosting Region's Connectivity
Katra (The Uttam Hindu) PM Modi inaugurated the world tallest Chenab rail bridge… Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the world's tallest Chenab rail bridge in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah were also present with the Prime Minister. Before the inauguration, Modi inspected the bridge and spoke to the engineers and laborers who turned a dream into reality. The Chenab Rail Bridge is a living example of excellent architecture, it is situated at a height of 359 meters from the river and is the world's highest railway crescent bridge. It is an important part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. This bridge is 1315 meters long.
PM Modi inaugurated the world tallest Chenab rail bridge… The steel crescent-shaped bridge has been built in such a way that it is not affected by earthquakes and storms. Travel between Jammu and Srinagar will become easier when train movement starts on the bridge. Through the Vande Bharat train running on the bridge, it will take just three hours to travel between Katra and Srinagar, reducing the current travel time by two to three hours. The 272 km long USBRL project between Jammu and Srinagar has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 43,780 crore, and covers 36 tunnels and 943 bridges while covering this distance. The project establishes seamless all-weather rail connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of the country, aimed at transforming regional mobility and promoting socio-economic integration.

Modi inaugurated the country's tallest arch (semi-circular) Chenab bridge and the country's first cable bridge-based Anji Khad Bridge and simultaneously flagged off two Vande Bharat trains running between Katra and Srinagar. Mr Modi first reached the Chenab bridge in a rail inspection car and walked there for about 100 meters waving the tricolor flag in his hand. He also met the workers working on the project.
