Indore/Shillong,(The Uttam Hindu): Disturbing new details have come to light in the murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi, a transport businessman from Indore. His wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, along with four accomplices, has been arrested for allegedly plotting and carrying out the crime.

According to the police, just five days after their wedding on May 11, Sonam conspired with her lover, Raj Kushwaha, to kill Raja. The couple had met on a matrimonial site and had gone to Shillong for their honeymoon, where the tragic event unfolded on May 23. Raja’s body was later discovered in a gorge.

Investigators found that Sonam had proposed staging a robbery and pretending to be a widow to gain her father's approval for her relationship with Raj. They even ordered a special axe online from Guwahati to use as the murder weapon. The hired hitmen were paid ₹50,000 and stayed at a hotel just a kilometer away from Sonam’s homestay, with her sharing their whereabouts with them.

After the murder, Sonam fled from Shillong to Guwahati, then took a train to Varanasi, eventually reaching Ghazipur while breaking her phone along the way to avoid being tracked. However, CCTV footage and call records eventually tied her to the crime. Raj Kushwaha was located and arrested in Indore, prompting Sonam to turn herself in at a roadside eatery in Uttar Pradesh.

The police managed to crack the case 17 days later, revealing the chilling conspiracy behind the murder. Reports indicate that Raj Kushwaha played a key role in coordinating the hired killers, fully supporting Sonam in her sinister plan. This case has captured significant media and public attention, highlighting the shocking betrayal and cold calculation that unfolded just days after what appeared to be a joyful wedding.
