Independence Day 2025: 20,000+ Security Personnel Deployed at Delhi’s Red Fort, Multi-Layer Protection in Place
New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Security has been tightened across the national capital ahead of Independence Day, with the Red Fort and surrounding areas placed under a multi-layered protection plan.
Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police, Madhur Verma, said that over 20,000 personnel from Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed to ensure safety during the August 15 celebrations. Entry to the Red Fort will be strictly regulated with regular checks and controlled access points.
For the first time, parking areas will use under-vehicle scanning systems, while CCTV cameras equipped with video analytics, facial recognition, abandoned object detection, and crowd counting have been installed across all VIP routes. Anti-drone systems have also been activated in coordination with multiple agencies.
The Red Fort event typically draws 20,000 to 25,000 guests, including VIPs and the general public. Authorities have urged visitors to arrive between 6:00–6:30 am before VIP movement begins and road restrictions are enforced. nSecurity has also been increased in sensitive areas like Chandni Chowk, Kashmiri Gate, and Jama Masjid, with local residents’ details already on record. Police personnel will also be stationed on nearby high-rise buildings.
