India-US Seal $131 Million Military Deal as Tensions Rise with Pakistan
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan over the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the US has struck a major military deal with New Delhi. In keeping with their strategic relationship, the US has approved a proposal to supply India with critical military hardware and logistics support assets worth US$ 131 million. This decision of the Pentagon House is expected to cause panic in Pakistan.
According to the US readout, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), operating under the Pentagon, has granted the necessary certification for military supplies and the US Congress has been notified of the potential sale. This proposed supply is linked to India-US cooperation through the Foreign Military Sales route under the framework of the Indo-Pacific Maritime Domain Awareness Program. The mission of DSCA is to advance US national security and foreign policy interests by building the capacity of foreign security forces to respond to shared challenges.
This deal between the two countries will further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and America. After the US approved the supply of military hardware to India, a report said that India has requested access to "C-Vision" documents and other related elements of logistics in addition to purchasing "C-Vision software, "remote software" and "analytical support". However, there was no immediate comment from Indian officials on the proposed supply. "This proposed sale will support America's foreign policy and national security objectives, as it will help strengthen the US-India strategic relationship and improve the security of a major defense partner, which remains an important force for political stability, peace, and economic progress in the Indo-Pacific and South Asia regions."
India will be stronger to deal with future threats. The strength of the Indian army will increase after the supply of military hardware from the US. The US said that the proposed sale will improve India's ability to deal with current and future threats by strengthening awareness, analytical capabilities and strategic position in the maritime domain. India will have no difficulty in incorporating these goods and services into its armed forces. The prime contractor for the supply will be Hawkeye 360, located in Herndon, Virginia. There will be no adverse impact on US defense preparedness as a result of this proposed sale.
