Sitamarhi(The Uttam Hindu): In a moment etched in history, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alongside Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the grand Janaki Temple in Sitamarhi — the revered birthplace of Goddess Sita. Modeled after the grandeur of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, this spiritual mega-project aims to elevate Sitamarhi into a sprawling, vibrant religious city.

With an approved budget of ₹882 crore 87 lakh, the temple complex promises to be not only a hub of devotion but also a landmark of architectural brilliance. The atmosphere at Punaura Dham was drenched in devotion, as saints and devotees from Ayodhya, Kashi, Janakpur, and South India filled the air with thunderous chants of “Jai Siyaram.”

The venue was adorned like a bride for the occasion. From Jaipur arrived a silver urn, while Delhi contributed specially crafted silver worship materials. Sacred soil from 21 pilgrimages and holy water from 31 rivers were brought for the ceremony, symbolizing unity in devotion. This monumental project is set to redefine Sitamarhi’s cultural and spiritual identity, drawing pilgrims from across India and beyond.
