Fierce Gunbattle Erupts in Kishtwar, Anti-Terror Operations Continue in Kashmir
Jammu(The Uttam Hindu): A fierce encounter broke out between Indian Army troops and terrorists in the Dul area of Jammu & Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Sunday morning, with operations still underway. The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army confirmed the development on social media platform ‘X,’ stating, “Based on specific intelligence, alert Indian soldiers engaged terrorists in the Dul area of Kishtwar on the morning of August 10, 2025. The firefight is ongoing.”
The Kashmir Valley remains on high alert, as this comes just days after a prolonged anti-terror operation in the Akhal Devsar forest area of Kulgam entered its tenth day late Friday night. That operation has already claimed the lives of two soldiers and left four others injured, with one civilian also killed.
Army spokespersons confirmed that the late-night gunbattle in South Kashmir’s Akhal forest saw intense exchange of fire. The fallen soldiers were identified as Constable Harminder Singh and Lance Naik Preetpal Singh of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles.
Paying tribute, the Chinar Corps posted on ‘X’: “We honour the supreme sacrifice of Lance Naik Preetpal Singh and Rifleman Harminder Singh, who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Their courage and dedication will continue to inspire us. The Indian Army extends heartfelt condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families.”
The anti-terror campaigns in both Kulgam and Kishtwar are part of intensified counter-insurgency efforts aimed at dismantling terror networks operating in Jammu & Kashmir.
