After Bihar Row Over PM Modi, TMC MP Mahua Moitra Sparks Fresh Controversy Targeting Amit Shah
Kolkata(The Uttam Hindu): A fresh political storm has erupted in West Bengal after Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra allegedly made a highly objectionable and violent remark against Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
In a viral video, Mahua Moitra can be heard saying that if India’s borders are not being protected and illegal infiltrations continue unabated, then “first Amit Shah’s head should be severed and placed on the table.” She further accused the Centre of failing to curb cross-border infiltration, alleging that women’s safety and land security were under threat.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned the remark, calling it a reflection of TMC’s “violent political culture.” The West Bengal BJP unit shared the clip on its official social media handles, accusing Moitra of spreading hatred and tarnishing Bengal’s democratic image.
BJP leaders argued, “When a TMC MP talks about beheading the Home Minister, it exposes the desperation of the party and the culture of violence they thrive on.”
This controversy comes at a time when political tempers are already high following the Bihar incident, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was allegedly abused during a public event linked to Rahul Gandhi’s visit. While the main accused in that case has been arrested, the fresh row involving Amit Shah’s name has escalated tensions further. So far, neither Mahua Moitra nor the TMC has officially responded to the BJP’s allegations.
