Government Extends Monsoon Session, to Table 8 Big Bills Including New Income Tax Law – What’s Changing for You?

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Central Government is set to introduce eight major bills during the extended Monsoon Session of Parliament, which will now run from July 21 to August 19. Initially scheduled to conclude on August 12, the session has been extended by a week, with no sittings on August 13 and 14 due to Independence Day celebrations. According to the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the government plans to bring important legislation related to taxation, education, sports, and mineral policy reforms.


Among the key bills to be introduced are the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Jan Vishwas (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Geo-Heritage Sites and Geo-Relics (Preservation and Maintenance) Bill, 2025, Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025, National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, and the National Anti-Doping Amendment Bill, 2025. In addition, the Income Tax Bill, 2025, Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024, and Indian Ports Bill, 2025, are expected to be tabled for passage.


For the first time, all Members of Parliament have been notified about the session’s schedule and legislative programme digitally through the ‘Members Portal’, ensuring easier access to information and a paperless approach to communication.
