Post Operation Sindoor Panic: Pakistan Shuts Entire Airspace

Update: 2025-05-07 13:58 GMT

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After 'Operation Sindoor' launched by India, there is panic in the Pakistan government and its army. In response to this action, Pakistan has now taken a big step of closing its entire airspace for all types of flights.

Earlier Pakistan had closed its airspace only for Indian planes, but after India's airstrike, the Pakistani high command has banned the airspace for flights of all countries. Pakistan has even completely closed its airspace for its civilian flights, only some very important flights are being allowed.

Due to this decision, around 135 flights have been cancelled in Pakistan. According to data from real-time flight tracking service Flight Radar 24, 16% of commercial flights in Pakistan and 3% in India have been cancelled since the Indian Army's airstrike.

Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority has issued an order in this regard, stating that Pakistan's airspace will remain a 'no-fly zone' for the next 48 hours. Pakistan has described this move as precautionary, but at the same time has also vowed to 'take revenge' from India, which has further increased the tension.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has held a high-level meeting with the National Security Council to discuss this serious situation. In this meeting, an attempt was made to decide how Pakistan should respond to India's action. It is worth noting that immediately after India's airstrike, many flights going to Islamabad and Lahore were diverted to Karachi airport, which put a lot of pressure on air operations there. After this, it was decided to close the entire airspace.
