Temple Trip Turns Tragic: 7 Devotees Dead, 20+ Injured in Horrific Road Crash

Pune(The Uttam Hindu): A devastating road accident in Khed Taluka, Pune, claimed the lives of seven devotees on Monday. The victims were traveling in a pickup van to visit the Kundeshwar temple when the vehicle overturned, leaving more than 20 others injured. The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. The government has announced ex-gratia compensation of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

The Prime Minister’s Office, through social media platform X, quoted PM Modi as saying, “Saddened by the loss of lives in an accident in Pune, Maharashtra. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones, and I pray for the recovery of the injured.” Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also expressed grief over the incident and confirmed that the state government will provide an additional ₹4 lakh financial aid to each bereaved family.
