Punjab cabinet greenlights building height hike, unveils key decisions
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, approved several important decisions at a meeting. The cabinet approved upgrading the Barnala Municipal Council to municipal corporation status. It also granted necessary approval for the creation of a new sub-tehsil, "Ludhiana North," in Ludhiana district.
The Punjab Cabinet has also approved the "Punjab Unified Building Rules 2025." According to this new rule, increasing the height of buildings in new colonies in Punjab from 15 meters to 21 meters will no longer require separate approval from the department. An architect's certificate alone will be sufficient.
The Cabinet also approved the filling of approximately 100 new positions in the Punjab Sports Medicine Cadre. All these recruitments will be made on a three-year contract basis. These positions include 14 Group A positions, 16 Group B positions, and approximately 80 Group C positions.
The Cabinet also approved the provision of 4 acres of land by the Central Government for construction of a 100-bed ESI hospital in Dera Bassi.
Additionally, the Cabinet amended the Punjab De-addiction Centers Regulations. According to this amendment, the state government will now directly oversee and manage the medications provided to de-addiction centers.
