EC Dares Rahul Gandhi — “Prove ‘Vote Theft’ Allegations Under Oath or Apologize to the Nation
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – The political battleground intensified after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission (EC) of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to “steal votes” and undermine democracy. In a sharp counter, the EC has demanded that Gandhi submit a sworn affidavit to substantiate his claims or issue a public apology to the nation.
According to sources, the EC has made it clear that if Gandhi truly stands by his analysis and allegations, he must sign a formal declaration without hesitation. Failure to do so, the EC warned, would mean he himself does not trust his claims. In that case, the Commission says, he must apologize for making “baseless and reckless allegations” against a constitutional body.
The EC has reportedly given Gandhi only two choices — either present proof under oath or withdraw his charges publicly. This follows Gandhi’s Thursday press conference, in which he alleged that the EC and BJP are “orchestrating electoral manipulation” to tilt the balance of democracy.
Gandhi claimed that the BJP never faces anti-incumbency, often registers unexpected landslide wins, opinion and exit polls frequently turn out wrong, the media narrative is manufactured, and election schedules are “choreographed” to suit the ruling party. He also raised questions about the authenticity of voter lists, claiming fake names were being added while legitimate voters were being sidelined.
With the EC now throwing down the gauntlet, the standoff between the constitutional body and the opposition leader threatens to spark a fresh political firestorm — one that could have repercussions far beyond the current election cycle.
