From Panchayat to Vice President: Man’s Unstoppable Obsession with Contesting Every Election
Jaisalmer(The Uttam Hindu): In a country where every citizen has the right to contest elections, a 38-year-old man from Rajasthan has turned it into his personal passion. Jalaluddin, a student from Jaisalmer, stunned everyone by filing his nomination for the post of Vice President of India. He even deposited the required ₹15,000 as security.
When asked about his unusual move, Jalaluddin replied with disarming simplicity, “I just love contesting elections.” True to his words, he has tried his luck in almost every type of election — from ward panch to Lok Sabha. His journey began in 2009 when he contested for ward panch and lost by just one vote. He later filed nominations for the 2013 Assembly elections and the 2014 Lok Sabha elections but withdrew before voting day.
This time, however, his Vice President nomination papers were found to have a technical flaw. According to the Election Commission’s rules, this means his nomination will be rejected. But while the result may be the same, Jalaluddin’s unmatched enthusiasm and determination have once again made him the talk of the town.
