Rajnath Singh Echoes PM Modi: Those Who Eye India Will Face a Befitting Reply
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has strongly reacted to the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Addressing the Sanskriti Jagran Mahotsav on Sunday, the Defense Minister made it clear that as a Defense Minister, it is his responsibility to ensure the security of the country's borders along with the soldiers. He stressed, "It is my responsibility to give a befitting reply to those who raise their eyes on the country along with my army."
The Defence Minister, while referring to the working style, determination and risk-taking spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that whatever the countrymen want will happen. He assured that the victims will get justice and the culprits will be punished.
It is worth noting that 26 tourists lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. After this attack, Prime Minister Modi had vowed to punish the culprits and the central government has taken several tough steps against Pakistan.
In his address, Rajnath Singh expressed concern over the declining level of the word 'politics'. He said that this word is made up of 'raj' and 'neeti', but unfortunately it has lost its original meaning. Seeking blessings from revered saints, he said that he wants to re-establish its true meaning in Indian politics.
Defining India's strength, the Defence Minister said that it lies not only in its armed forces but also in its culture and spirituality. He said that India will become truly developed only when it becomes economically, culturally and spiritually strong.
Comparing the nation to the body, he said that just as we protect the body, saints protect the soul of the nation. Protecting the soul of the nation is possible only when we remain connected to our culture, values and spirituality. India is the land of warriors like Veer Arjun and also of great Yogis like Lord Buddha.
Rajnath Singh said that India is a sacred land where even the sword is sanctified by penance. History is a witness that the sages inspired the warriors with their penance, made them fearless and instilled in them the feeling of doing something for the country. There have been such sages who sacrificed their lives to protect truth and culture.
